Sisterhood
Alpha Sigma Kappa prides itself on balancing academics with having a social life. Our sorority is full of members who aim to do just that. This like-minded nature and priority on academics brings our members closer. We hold weekly events through Alpha Sigma Kappa to strengthen these bonds, and many members continue to spend time outside of these events! Some of our events include movie nights, book club meetings, picnics, trips to the pumpkin patch, and our annual Social Retreat. We are proud to be a relatively small group because we get the chance to get to know everyone on a personal level!
Philanthropy
We believe in empowering young women through education in the sciences and mathematics. Our local charity is Girls Inc, which inspires girls to be "Strong, Smart, and Bold" primarily through after school programs. We support Girls Inc through volunteering at their events along with fundraising for their cause. You can learn more about Girls Inc at their website here. Our national organization supports Donors Choose which fundraises for teachers, helping them expand their resources for various projects for their classrooms.
Academics
Alpha Sigma Kappa understands and respects the importance of academics. We prioritize study and de-stressing events to help support our members We host quarterly study jams along with providing mentorship and study group programs to our members Additionally, we require all members to complete three hours of "academic enrichment" per quarter. Academic enrichment refers to events such as on campus career fairs, research seminars, and career workshops; our sorority also holds our own independent enrichment workshops such as LinkedIn and computer programming tutorials. The Alpha Sigma Kappa Educational Foundation also awards scholarships to selected members annually.
